Rome Is A City Rich In History

Even after the fall of the Roman Empire the city was still significant. It was also a hotbed of intrigue. Vatican City, the center of the Roman Catholic Church, located in Rome. While the Vatican is its own sovereign country, Rome is the end of many religious pilgrimages, and where many political machinations of the base of the power of the church took place. During the time when the Catholic Church was perhaps the most important entity and most powerful in Europe, it made Rome great importance.

The legend behind the departure of Rome is one of a pair of twins called Romulus and Remus, who was raised by a wolf, he decided to build a city. It was decided to be built on seven hills that are in Rome and its surroundings today. After a dispute over the name of Romulus and Remus killed name to the city of Rome, after himself. The story also says that he invited everybody in the city man, slave and free. He selected 100 men good and honest to start the Roman Senate. Contemporary attempts to follow the linguistic roots of the word "Roma", suggest that this was the Etruscan language.

The real story is that Rome began as several small villages on the hills. The location of Rome was ideal because it was not too far from the sea, about 19 miles. Tiber runs through Rome. It is also a place where the Tiber could easily waded. All this will make up the site of Rome almost perfect. Source of fresh water, easy transportation of goods and easy to defend, are three things that help people choose where to settle.

The Etruscans are part of the history of ancient Rome. At least two of the first kings of Rome, are considered part of the Etruscans. Their names refer to Tarquinia, who was an Etruscan town. Although there are numerous remains of Etruscan society in Rome through his art, language and architecture, are the overwhelming influence of Rome. It began as a Latin city, and remains an American city for the rest of its 2500 years or more.

While Rome has declined somewhat in the modern political influence, there is no way anyone can deny its influence in the modern world. People are always attracted to Rome for many reasons, including religious pilgrimages and education, fashion, and only to deepen the rich history of the region. If you are looking for a place that is not only beautiful but full of history and places to explore Rome is the place to go.
